Description
While investigating a series of murders of political figures, Inspector Rogas (Lino Ventura) encounters a huge conspiracy, involving both the left and the right, which could destroy the precarious compromises which hold the government together. His suspicions fall on a certain man who was at one time unjustly accused. Tension builds as, in his plodding, unemotional way, he begins to unravel the mystery; the extent of his discoveries causes him to fear for his own life.
